Welcome to Salisbury Middle
Welcome to the Salisbury Middle School web page!

Please be reminded that our final PTA meeting for the year will be held tomorrow night, April 16th at 5:00 in the cafeteria.  The brief general meeting will be followed with classroom visitation.  We are seeking officers to fill the vacant Executive Board positions for next school year.  We are asking for candidates interested in serving as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  If you are interested, please feel free to call the school for more information or visit with our current PTA Board on Monday night.

Our PTA is sponsoring a school wide Penny War.  This is a fundraiser to gain funds to support staff appreciation week, classroom initiatives and classroom supplies.  The Penny Wars will run for the entire week, with the team raising the most silver coins winning donuts for the team on May 1st!

We would like to congratulate Tara Elliott, grade 6 ELA teacher, for being named the Christine D. Sarbanes Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Elliott’s work with the students as SMS, as well as her work within the Salisbury Community to promote literacy made her the outstanding candidate.  She will be recognized for this prestigious award at the Maryland State Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 12th

Due to the forecast of rain, we will be doing the United Way drone photo on Wednesday, April 18th at 8:00 AM.  T-shirts will be held at school until the photo shoot.  We will also be conducting our lock down drill as previously scheduled on Wednesday at 9:40 AM.  A School Messenger call will go out at the completion of the lock down drill to notify parents that the building is once again open and that the drill has been completed. April 18th.docx

We would like to congratulate Annabel Matava for being a finalist  in the Letters About Literature contest! She’ll be headed to the awards ceremony on May 12th.

8th grade parents, the 8th grade Awards program will take place on June 8th in the gymnasium.  As in years’ past, due to limited capacity, each family will be eligible to receive 2 tickets.  The 8th grade Formal will be held the evening of June 8th.  Information regarding both events will be sent out as the date gets closer.

Salisbury Middle School has teamed with the Maryland Food Bank to offer the School Pantry Program to our students and families.  Each Friday students can bring home a variety of foods in their book bags.  Salisbury Middle School will also distribute food to our students and families in need throughout the week and will distribute food during large evening events.  Everyone qualifies for this program.  If you need assistance or have questions about our food pantry, please feel free to contact Salisbury Middle School and ask for Mrs. Glover or Ms. Redden.

Please be reminded that students are not permitted to wear hoods, coats and backpacks while in the school building.  In addition, students are not permitted to have food or drink items outside of the cafeteria.  We appreciate your support as we strive to ensure and safe environment conducive to learning.
